Adoption
Miscalculated, loved, and misconceived,
In angered, sick, remorseful mornings grown
Resentful, filled with shamecast eyes that grieved,
Disowned, she faced the birthing pangs alone.
Defenceless angel child, with rooting trust
Dissolved a callous world in love-locked gaze,
Resolved to defend, though spirit crushed
She fled her homeless flat down fret-filled days.
With income gone, and hope bereft, she wept.
The hungered, haunted whimper never stopped.
For social help is destitution crept;
The smug faced answer came – Adopt, Adopt.
For twenty years in taunted silence lived
Unknown, a youth still thought he was not loved.
