No Names

They know who they are
And what they do.
They do not need celebrity.
Celebrity might harm them,
Might distract them in their doing
What they can do.
They move silently through a ward,
Sometimes at night,
Appearing late with assurances
Before each operation.
They answer in quiet scientific explanations.
They reappear
At the emergence of consciousness
With other reassurances.
They known who they are,
Where celebrity will not harm them.
The Greeks had a name for it,
Know thou thyself they said,
That confidence the catalyst
To reward yourself instead.
